to join us for Dinner.
DECEMBER Meeting Program:
2004 Officers
and Directors:
President: Mike Smith
Vice President: Paul
Gerner
Secretary: Herman Leong
Treasurer: David Lerner
Director VGT: Armin Tuma
Director BLD: Glenn
Smith
Director HND: Glenn Carlson
President?s Corner:
Well, our last major
event for the year, ?Nellis?
Aviation Nation?, went off quite well. We only had four airplanes in our EAA ?corral?, on the North end of the ramp not far from the
Thunderbird hangar, but they drew quite a bit of interest. Of course, Jim Grahn?s beautifully painted T-18 always draws a
crowd. I ran out of EAA and Young Eagle
information handouts on Saturday and had to print more. Ran our again on Sunday as well. A few of our members came by to ?spell? us for lunch
breaks. All ?told?
we must have had at least a couple of hundred
interested families come by, ask questions and pick up a handout. Maybe our effort will result in a few more
kids at our February Rally.
The International
Council of Air Shows Convention will be in town for a few days starting
December 6th. I expect our
new aerobatic showman, Dr. Matt Cooper, (a Chapter 1300 member) will be
attending with the aerobatic performers who usually thrill us at Discover
Aviation and a few other YE Rallies. (I.e. Richard Brand, Craig Teft, and Craig Fordem) I don?t
know how many other of you may attend, but if you do, please give us an update
at our next meeting on December 8th.
I know we have
several Chapter members who are also Clark County Aviation Association members,
so I expect I will see many of you at the CCAA Christmas party the evening of
December 7th.
Remember, get your new permanent nametag ordered from Ken
Wyatt before our next meeting to get in on the savings. His e-mail is airportbum@att.net .
Following our
normal monthly general membership meeting, we will have our annual Ice Cream
Social, (what has become an annual tradition in place of a Christmas party)
hosted by Jim and Jan Bonelli. This is
our last meeting of the year and will be at the North Las Vegas terminal on Wednesday,
December 8th. 1930 hours. As
usual, a few of us will be having dinner at the Foothills Ranch on North Rancho
before the meeting. After the meeting,
the new officers, directors and committee members will meet for a few minutes
to start the transition of ?leadership? for next year. Of
course, all are welcome to listen in.
I hope all of you
had a great Thanksgiving holiday. Mine
was wonderful. See you at the meeting.
Fly Safely,
Mike Smith
