December, 2009
Prior to the November meeting date, an email ballot was sent out for voting on three issues: Term length (Officers and Board of Directors), Officers and three Board of Directors. As a result of the email and attending member ballots, the following results are: Term length is now 2 years. Officers are: President – Roger Hansen, Vice President – Terry Frazier, Secretary – Seb Trost, and Treasurer – Brian Prinzavalli. The BOD’s are Randy Holland, Dean Herrington and Kathleen Jones. It is my opinion that we have the personnel to grow the membership and provide educational opportunities for our members along with involving and assisting them in their custom built aviation projects.
We had a “drive out” after the business meeting and visited Nevada Aircraft Engines where Dennis Malone hosted our visit and explained some processes and various pieces of shop equipment. In addition to “engine business”, we had the opportunity to view Ed Rochanski’s personal collection of “Midget”, “Sprint” and “Indy” race cars. Check out a few of the photos. An added treat was Ed’s complete nose section of a C-119 “Flying Box Car” with the nose art depicting the plane Ed flew while serving in the Air Force during the 1950’s. Thanks to Dan Eikleberry for the pictures!

Next month’s meeting will be on Saturday, December 12 where we will present our annual holiday dinner meeting at the Landings Restaurant upstairs in the Henderson Terminal. Our guest speaker is Dick Rutan, the first man to fly around the world non-stop on one very large “tank of gas”.
We will resume our normal schedule in January where we will take up our discussion on tool purchases. Currently there are two considerations being discussed, electronic scales and a bore scope. Hope to see you there on Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
